My Independent Study Program (ISP) offers students, professional therapists and patients easy access to audio teaching modules covering all aspects of therapeutic practice outside of a formal classroom process – in an organized and methodical fashion. After years of organizing and distilling the relevant clinical material of Reich, Masterson and Jung, I developed a method that teaches a precise clinical approach using discrete steps with functionally applicable tools – the basics of how to do therapy from soup-to-nuts.
Through teaching live classes for many years, and with the help of students who recorded a prodigious amount of these sessions, I began the mammoth job of editing all of the recordings with my terrific audio engineer, and created a compendium of CD’s and MP3’s that give public access to this abundant supply of theoretical and clinical information on Orgonomy and my own method. These audio learning programs feature lively student discussions, which include the listener as if he or she is attending the class. Of course, the CD’s were highly edited to eliminate compromising personal information in order to maintain strict confidentiality.
In this post, I hope to encourage the many of you who read my newsletter and are interested in clinical process to jump in and listen to these audio courses. You can either sign-up for the whole program where you listen to the course series in order: Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced and the Bodywork Series, or you can pick topics of interest and just listen to them out of order, so-to-speak. If you are a professional in the field or a student winding your way to licensure, you can listen to the audio courses and receive live mentorship from me along the way. Those of you who commute, can learn as you go! Interesting food for thought as you make your way to your destination. And some classes do qualify for continuing education credits.
The CD courses cover character typology that is interesting and helpful if you are a clinician. To help your patient, you need to see and know who they are in a precise way. Just looking through the lens of a variety of complaints, symptoms, and stories of the day can lead to confusion and ineffectiveness. The therapeutic relationship can bog down unless you understand ‘character’ and can work with the defenses and resistances as they emerge in every session. The ISP audio courses initially focus on character types in order to ground the student and provide scaffolding for the rest of the teachings. Learning this typology enables clarity of the composite aspects that define specific character types. When you understand the types, you understand the defenses and what they look like in the office. You can then help the patient understand what is challenging, so she can loosen her old coping mechanisms and become her authentic self – free from historic limitations.
Current and past students of Dr. Frisch might benefit from refreshing their knowledge base by listening to the audio courses because with clinical experience you hear the information in a new light.
Other topics covered include: the stages of therapy, dream work, bodywork series, and general clinical how-tos. If you are a client working on yourself, you might be interested in figuring out and expanding your knowledge of character types and/or listening to the 2 classes on dream analysis.
Thank you all for your interest and participation in OINC! Always feel free to contact me directly to discuss your needs.

P.S. from Lisa Nichols, Dr. Frisch’s Executive Assistant:
- The ISP is a comprehensive, progressive audio learning program, which features CD courses containing recordings of live classes, MP3 recordings of class discussion groups, and includes live (in-person or via Skype) mentoring with Dr. Frisch. You can find out more here.
- Ad hoc audio distance learning options are also available where students can pick and choose among a variety of CD courses and listen to them in any order. You can learn more here.
- There’s nothing like seeing the work in action! If you can listen to the courses and then attend a class featuring live demos or case presentations, the learning will really take root. A list of our live classes can be found here.
